What is the difference between insulation brick and refractory brick?

The main function of insulation bricks is to keep heat and reduce heat loss. Insulation bricks are generally not in direct contact with the flame, and refractory bricks are in direct contact with the flame. High temperature bricks are mainly used for flame burning. It is usually divided into two types: amorphous refractories and shaped refractories. Amorphous refractory materials, also called castables, refer to mixed particles composed of various aggregates or aggregates and one or more binders, which must be uniformly mixed with one or more liquids with strong fluidity. Fixed refractory materials: ordinary refractory bricks have standard shape rules and can be temporarily cut as needed.

The main differences between insulation bricks and refractory bricks are as follows:

1. Thermal insulation performance.

The thermal conductivity is generally between 0.2-0.4 (average temperature 350±25°C), and the thermal conductivity of refractory bricks is generally above 1.0 (average temperature 350±25°C), so the thermal conductivity is much higher than that of refractory bricks.

2. Fire resistance.

The refractoriness of insulation bricks generally does not exceed 1400 degrees, and the refractoriness of refractory bricks is generally above 1400 degrees.

3. Density.

The density of insulation bricks is generally 0.8~1.0gcm3, and the density of refractory bricks is above 2.0gcm3.

In general, the refractory brick has high mechanical strength, long service life, good chemical stability, no chemical reaction with the material, good high temperature resistance, and the highest temperature resistance can reach 1900°C. It is especially suitable for high and low temperature reformers, reformers, hydrogenation converters, desulfurization tanks, and methane reformers in chemical fertilizer plants.

Used to disperse gas and liquid, support, cover and protect the catalyst. It is also suitable for hot blast stoves and heat conversion devices in the steel industry.

It has the advantages of high density, high strength, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, low thermal expansion coefficient, high grinding efficiency, low noise, no pollution, and long service life. It is a high-quality abrasive suitable for all kinds of mills.

There are big differences between thermal insulation bricks and refractory bricks in terms of use environment, use range, and use functions. Different materials are used in different places. When selecting materials, we must decide which refractory material to use according to our actual situation.
